A batch of 40 young officers were selected by the then Corporation Bank Limited under the Chairmanship of Shri.N.N.PAI. On 17th January 1977, this batch was commissioned as Officer-trainees in the Bank that had 215 branches and 500 crores of total business.[Today the Bank has crossed 1500 branches and Rs.2,00,000 crores of total business]
A memorable journey for 35 years was not a smooth one! This batch could move on to perch at different levels partially due to destiny and primarily due to opportunities provided. Of the forty Officers less than 20 are with the Banking Industry[ a few shifted to other Banks/Institutions]. One remained outside the Banking to become India's most popular Political Cartoonist : E.Padmanabhan Unny
Another could reach the helm of affairs of the Punjab National Bank, at Delhi as its Chairman and Managing Director: Mr.K.R.Kamath
Two remain as General Managers in the same Bank: Mr.B.Lakshminarayana and Mr.K.R.Shenoy at Mangalore.
One lady remains in service : Ms.VRINDA SHANTHARAM, at Kochi Branch.
One Officer could reach the post of Chief General Manager at the Reserve Bank of India Mumbai: Mr.S.V.Raghavan.
We have also lost a few of them to Mortality: Mr.A.Ganeshan, Mr.S.Raman, Ms.Annapoorna Pai
